I’m baaaaack. Rested, rejuvenated and, more importantly, absurdly tan in late September. And while I had to say bye-bye to the beach, I’m so excited to be back in New York as Fall crisps up the air. It’s the most beautiful time in the city, and also the most bustling. It’s back to school, back to work, and back to fashion. So let us turn our eyes to the Paris runways, because the shows have not disappointed.
Look 1: Fact: Raf Simons has changed the game at Christian Dior. Under a beautifully surreal dripping canopy of flora, he sent out his signature minimal lady looks that have me wanting to disown my jeans and put on a skirt and pumps. The florals did not translate to the frocks, thankfully, which continue to be super simple and chic. Who else could make a candy-striped silk dress with a bubble peplum look downright sporty?
Christian Dior is not available online but come on in to 477 Broome and behold the genius.
Look 2: I’m thrilled KZ added Nina Ricci to its roster recently. It’s sexy and girly but never fussy. A question many designers have asked but few convincingly answered: How to modernize Victorian romance? Chop it off to mid-thigh, turns out. A watercolor print and ruffled high neck yet still date-appropriate. Yes please.
Look 3: Love me some Lanvin! Alber Elbaz had me at Jamie Bochert; my favorite grunge-goddess-model strutted out in the first look. It was like ladies who lunch meets glam rock David Bowie. It was glorious. Suddenly I need something lamé in my life, and it might have to be the icy pink blazer thrown over Jamie’s shoulders. Oh so nonchalant, oh so Parisian.
